I've had personal experience with the following sources, and have been favorably impressed as per the following comments. If anyone finds that any source no longer lives up to my comments, please send me your comments at with the recommendation title in the "subject" line.
I get a commission on some of the products provided by some of the sources, but I recommend only sources I believe to be best values.

GoDaddy.com: I am using this provider for my hosting, registrar, and SSL certificate. I have been unable to beat the value here dispite the following problems:
-
My account pages are very "busy". GoDaddy sells a lot of products, and those links seem to be mixed with links in management areas.
-
The above situation makes it confusing sometimes as to how to do necessary site management, such as setting up mail forwarding, site subdirectories, etc.
-
To get the most from this provider I would say will definitely take patience, and one who can control their frustrations.
Some of the great features include:-
Even the cheapest hosting plan has unlimited bandwidth, so its no problem if you get a lot of traffic!
-
Such a 36 mo. plan with a 20% discount promotion is 2 dollars and 40 cents per month (as of 11 Dec. 2010).
-
10 gigabytes of storage is likely room for more than a thousand pages of content.
-
This plan includes 100 megabytes of email storage you can spread over 10 email boxes (or addresses).
-
You get large packs of mail forwarding "credits" with both hosting plans and domain registrations, but you have to go into the "setup for forwarding" link rather than for the email boxes. I set up a "catch-all" box first, so had to delete it and recreate in forwarding.
-
You get 10 MySql databases;
-
I have the impression that GoDaddy is profitable and well staffed, and this gives me the feeling that their security is above average. With all the cybercrime these days, this is very important to me.
-
Your hosting account provides links for the Content Management Systems (CMSs) Joomla and Drupal as well as WordPress.
-
Also provided are links for Simple Machine (to create your own forums) and for Zen Cart (for e-commerce).
-
I've been a GoDaddy customer for several years and always found them reliable.
